Overhead LARS
The Ulmatec Overhead A-frame is a launch and recovery system for WROV. It is designed for easy installation in a hangar. The Overhead A-frame provides a safe working environment for operators and equipment.
The snubber includes a 3 jaw latch assembly with failsafe operation and a hydraulic motor for rotation of the WROV through launch and recovery mode.
The Ulmatec A-frame overhead is fabricated as a box beam construction of a wagon and beams and snubber unit connected to the cross member. High capacity hydraulic cylinders provide positive load control throughout the complete working range for the A-Frame, hydraulic motors will ensure safety and continuous movement between working and stowing position of the wagon.
Hydraulic cylinders enable the snubber unit to maintain a vertical position throughout the luffing movement of the A-Frame. Furthermore, the snubber unit is equipped with a hydraulic operated rotating device, comprising fail-safe latch and shock damper for safe and smooth latching of ROV/TMS. The fail-safe latch is arranged such that it cannot be released when load is applied, i.e. the ROV/TMS must be resting on deck or its weight be held by the winch for the latch to open. The return of the latch is by means of a mechanical spring aided by a closed hydraulic system with accumulators. The lock consists of three dogs, each with visual flags. The locking mechanism also incorporates over-travel, reducing the risk of overloading the ROV/TMS when landing on deck.
